Fix blue tint/cool colored screen on a new Windows 7 laptop!

A lot of laptop manufacturers ship their laptops with an overly cool colored screen. This makes white look sort of blueish, and can throw off colors on your screen, not to mention that it’s really annoying.

My new laptop had the same problem. The screen had a blue tint to it and it was really annoying me. I did a lot of research on the net, but couldn’t find any info on how to change the screen settings! So I took the time to look for a solution in Windows 7 itself, and I found it out. I want to share it with others because I couldn’t find this info online!

How to fix the blue tint/cool colored screen on a new Windows 7 laptop:

1. Make sure your laptop’s brightness is on full.

2. Go to Start>Control Panel>Display.

3. On the left bar, click Calibrate Color.

4. Follow on the on screen instructions to correct your gamma.
New laptops are shipped with the gamma a little high so when you see whites on your screen it’s almost blinding. I would recommend turning the slider down and matching it up like it asks on the screen. I set mine to about 35%.

5. After you’re done with this, on the next screen click “Skip brightness and contrast adustment,” as you cannot adjust these on a laptop screen.

6. Click next, then you’ll l be on the color balance adjustment screen, which is where you will correct the blue tint.
The slider on the right where the color blue is located, slide the slider to the left 3 notches. I found this setting to be optimal for my laptop screen. 4 notches made whites look slightly yellow, and 2 notches still looked blue to me. Adjust as needed based on your screen.

7. On the next page you’ll have the ability to switch between what you had it on previously and what you set it to, so you can compare and see if you got rid of that nasty cool coloring!

And that’s it. It took me a couple tries until I got the settings right, but once I did it made a big difference and it’s less annoying to look at my laptop screen now.

Hope it helps!
