Taco Bell recently opened up in Kuwait at Avenues Mall. 

Before it even opened up, a lot of guys at school hyped the shit out of it. They hyped it up each and every day before it came out, and in that sense, created a bias. When I heard someone mention they were excited about Taco Bell, I was like, “What? Taco Bell? Don’t get your hopes up man…”

I’m no stranger to Taco Bell. I’ve eaten there around 3 or 4 times while I was studying in the US. The food was never really good, but I could definitely say it was cheap. Almost everything on the menu cost $1 or $1.50. 

Taco Bell finally opened up here in Kuwait. A handful of guys at university now go there almost every other day. From Salmiya, to Avenues, back to Salmiya almost every other day just to go eat Taco Bell. I heard of this, and decided to go with them one day, as my work was close by and when I was done I would just head off to work. 

The guys ranted and raved about how “amazing” and “cheap” the food was. As for me, I reserved judgment until I ate it. 

So we got there, I ordered a Crunchwrap Supreme meal. The outside bread was burned, the inside of the sandwich had the texture of mush, and it tasted of nothing, well, except for the overriding sour cream. Furthermore, the whole meal cost KD 1.450, which if I’m not mistaken, is the same cost as most meals at McDonald’s and Burger King. A burrito costs 750 fils, but at KFC you can get a toasted twister, which is much bigger than the burrito, for 600 fils, and the hard/soft tacos are 250 fills, but you can get a felafel sandwich which is bigger for 100 fils only. 

So basically it wasn’t cheap at all, and the food tasted bad and was overcooked. 

And yet, these handful of guys, still go almost every other day to Taco Bell and eat there, and still profess it’s the best food they’ve ever eaten in their whole lives. I even gave them my facts that I stated in this post, but they somehow, don’t agree with facts. They really have no idea how good homemade mexican good is. 

Taco Bell does not taste good.
